Since the weather was so nice yesterday (70 degrees and sunny) , I decided to head down to Aliso & Wood Canyons and get in an extended weekday mountain bike ride.

When I first arrived, I spotted a KCAL news van in the parking lot.

KCAL News Van

I thought maybe there was a mountain lion attack - or another missing person, especially since there was a copter flying around overhead as well. Apparently, they found some nasty tick disease there and were just reporting on it. Just a reminder to check yourselves after a ride. If you’re not bushwacking and stay on the main trails, you should be ok, but just check yourself just in case.

So the route I took ended up being around 16.7 miles with about 2500+ feet of elevation gain. From the main parking lot, I went up Meadows, down Lynx, up Cholla, down Rock-it, up Mathis and finally back down Meadows again. The only part that sucked was the initial climb up Meadows. Lots of people skid going around the switchbacks there which results in very tough and loose climb up.
